Being an outdoorsy person, the beauty of the Hudson Valley comes with no shock to me. I grew up biking Piermont to Nyack, hiking through New Paltz, and skiing in Minnewaska and Fahnestock. These activities were always a passion of mine but I always had access to a bike, pair of skis, and a car to make these trips out of the City.
When I was exploring ideas for my Girl Scout project I knew it had to involve the outdoors, so when I discovered Ken Roberts website it became my project to renovate and restore it.
Through this website, I hope to educate people on how to safely go on outdoor adventures by providing information on conserving the trails, protecting the environment, and finding easily accessible local outdoor adventures for inexperienced and experienced outdoors people. Living in New York City and the surrounding area, many people are unaware of the Hudson Valley and opportunities to get outside.
My project connects people with the outdoors and informs them on how to safely do outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and skiing.
The impact I hope to make with my project is making it more accessible for people to start outdoor activities and encourage people to explore the Hudson Valley without spending excessive time and money planning a trip. Many people connect biking and skiing to expensive sports that require experience, however, my website provides information on how to easily access equipment and beginner trails.
Additionally, my website is used to educate people on protecting the outdoors and the environment, and I hope to inform people on sustainability so everyone can enjoy the Hudson Valley. Everyone can benefit from learning how to conserve the trails and be sustainable while doing outdoor activities.
Both experienced and inexperienced outdoors people will benefit from this website. Discover how to get started on your outdoor adventure or how to expand your trips and learn more about the Hudson Valley and Beyond.
