Powerlinez Climbing

Rock Dojo Top-Rope

Mainly known as a bouldering sector, there are also some taller rocks with worthwhile top-rope climbs.

The Swath

The closest area to the trailhead. The "swath" is the zone where all the trees were cleared out to make way for the electric power line. The Top-Rope crags are out in the open, along with some bouldering rocks. Some more bouldering rocks in the lower trees. Climbers love it for the sunshine. So do the pricker/thorn bushes.

Swamp

Below Yankee Ramparts and Revolutionary Ramparts and left from the Boulder Road. includes Swamp King, Jumble n Tumble, Snake Hole.

Yankee Rampart

Top-Roping and Bouldering area, mostly at the Tower Wall level, out WNW past the Basilisk Wall and Revolutionary Ramparts West and Yankee Ramparts East areas.

Revolutionary Rampart

Boulders and low crags, mostly on the Tower Wall level, out WNW from the Basilisk wall.

Tower Wall Area

This area has the tallest wall at Powerlinez, with other worthwhile cliffs alongside. It includes these sectors: • Dave's Wall • Three Bears • Tower Wall • Sunny Picnics

Picatinny

The name of this area from a place name of the Lenni-Lenape earlier native residents of this region, and the names of its sectors are also from the Lenni-Lenape. It contains these sectors (W to E): • Manayunk • Tulpehocken • Scheyichbi • Nechtanc • Wichquawanck • Shawkopoke In the print guidebook 2011 edition this area is called "Upper Lenapehoking", and in the Rakkup app it is called "Nechtanc and Friends".

Perched Rampart

Small crags mainly Top-Roping (some Bouldering) up near the top of the cliff just east of the Tower Wall . Their base areas typically have steeper drop-offs below, so they're "perched".

East End

Bouldering and Top-Roping out east and northeast from the Tower Wall and Puzzle Palace areas. Usually quick and easy to reach from the main trailhead.

Kittantinny

Smaller walls and boulders above Picatinny and below the Books Tier Known climbing includes • Crazy Tree . . . (Crazy Tree is right next to The Shelves sector of the Books Tier area ). Name is another location from the Lenni-Lenape native Americans. The Kittatinny ridge is the section of the Appalachian mountain range (from Georgia to Maine) which passes through the northwest corner of New Jersey. It has the highest summits in the state of New Jersey, from the Delaware Water Gap to High Point.

Book Tier

The next "layer" of cliffs above the Tower wall. It is named after its early popular sector, The Good Book . The rock tends to be a have more horizontal layers and horizontal holds than the lower tiers at Powerlinez. From NorthWest to East (L to R) these are the sectors (as of 2016): • Adventure Stories • Romance Novels • the Shelves • Top Shelf • The Good Book • Fairy Tales • Career Guides (with the big roof "Proving Grounds") • Check Book • Radical Books There are other possible cliffs in this tier which might have interesting climbing, mostly farther out NorthWest. As of 2017, the Books Tier is the highest area at Powerlinez that is legally open for technical rock climbing.
