Copake Falls to Ancramdale Trip Reports

Ken Roberts, June 2004

Sharon and I and friends enjoyed riding thru Copake Falls and Ancramdale many times for many years -- but usually as part of some longer route.  But this is one of the best areas for novice riders -- because of the Rail Trail, the quiet roads, the bicycle rentals in Copake Falls, and the nice wide shoulders on several sections of the Rt 22 highway -- and the good non-bicycling activities nearby.

So I've been wanting to put these villages into a shorter route, and I checked out all the roads and turns, and made up the route map graphic in November 2002.  But then I got busy, so it took another year-and-a-half to finish it.

Joel, July 2006:

We just rode the Ancramdale Copake route with some minor interesting variations variations:

1: R on Crest Lane off E Ancram Road. A beautiful scenic road, shortens ride by about a mile, and still lets you eat at The Farmer's Wife in Ancramdale (still open and terriffic)

2: Off Rte 3: Turn L on Roche Dr, R on Snyder L on Wiltsie Bridge then rejoin route turning L on Ancram Copake Road. Passes interesting cow farm:
